In collaboration with the Merrymeeting Arts Center, Friends of Merrymeeting Bay is proud to host a talk by accomplished photographer Heather Perry. In Heather’s words “I’m happiest in, on and under water” and this happiness can be seen in every one of her photographs – shots many of you know well. After all, you’ve seen her work published in several places. To name a few: National Geographic, DownEast, Maine Boats Homes & Harbors, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and Wooden Boat. Fans of Merrymeeting Bay know her best from Frank Burroughs' magnificent book Confluence: Merrymeeting Bay. After all, those wonderful photographs of the Bay and of fish under the surface of the Bay are Heather’s work!

Maine offers so much beauty. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear experiences from a local photographer of this caliber. Please join us Saturday, August 11 at 11:00 am. Pre-registration is not required. The talk will be in a gallery at the Merrymeeting Arts Center which is currently hosting its major show "Three Town Artists: Carlo Pittore, Bryce Muir & Carter Smith." The show is supported by The 250th Anniversary Committee of the Town of Bowdoinham and the Carlo Pittore Foundation for the Figurative Arts. The arts center is open on weekends 10-1 pm, Saturdays and 1-4 pm Sundays. For more information see merrymeetingartscenter.org or contact Jeff DeRosa at 371-8099. Events are usually free and are open to the public. Their next outing will be “Surficial Geology of Merrymeeting Bay” with Tom Weddle on August 18 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. To pre-register for this trip, or to receive more information about FOMB’s programs, please call or write Jeff DeRosa, Executive Coordinator, at 371-8099 or jeffderosa@fomb.org.
